The Garden Learning Circle is a regular in person space for anyone interested in deschooling, self-directed learning and young people’s rights in education.

We hold a reflective circle on deschooling and our experiences as families and professionals learning outside of the mainstream after lunch on our Community Days at 1.30pm. We look at an aspect of our practice, community or movement each session and create space for people to bring anything that has come up for them in relation to this, so we can support each other in our personal and collective journeys.

The sessions are free to attend if you join our Community Day to work on the site with us but otherwise we ask for a donation of £5-10 towards The Garden’s resource budget.

Some aspects of our practice, community or movement that we might look at in depth:

  • The theory and evidence for self-directed learning

  • A generative approach to conflict

  • Unconditional relating

  • Collaborative decision making

  • Project planning and review

  • Intention and reflection cycles

  • The wider political context

  • Supporting young people at home

You can also join the Deschooling Support group in our Whatsapp Community.

Unfortunately the space is not accessible to all as it is up a steep slope but please let us know if we can make this more accessible for you or if you have any questions.
